Hey ladies,

Just a quick note. We are currently in OK with my friend Carrie at her homestead - milking goats, chickens, etc. Hubby is in KS still trying to find a house. The market isn't great if you are looking for something with a yard/acerage to rent! There's to many people coming at the same time for Fort Riley and it's hard to find anything decent that's not a townhouse/duplex or to small for our family.

However, I know that God will provide.

I can't remember but if any of you reside around Junction City/Manhattan/Salina area and know of a place for rent or sale please contact me! Thanks!!!

Blessings to you all,

Holly

Well I appreciate the encouragement. Could really use some help!

We were stationed at Riley previously from 99-01. The buffalo corral was still there and in fact there was a white calf born while we were there, however it is now the community dog park. Chief is buried in front of The Custer House near the Cav museum, not sure when he died.

I wish we could get one of the historic homes on main post but they are all officer housing. The SNCO list is the longest wait....it gets old sometimes, I'm always hoping things will just go smoothly and we will actually have some payback for being in this long but not this time, again.

Thanks ladies.

hey mom2knk,
High 5,,,,, sounds like we went to the same Jr High on Base.
When I was there the last Calvary horse was living out his final days out in the pasture, in fact I think he went on to that Big Herd in the Sky in '68 or '69.
If I recall, his name was "Chief".
There was also a small herd of Bison/Buffalo on Base. We drove by their pasture every time we left Base to go into Junction City.
Ah, wonderful memories.
Holly, you'll have to update us on KS, maybe send some pictures our way.
Hope you find that perfect home & that it will be filled with love, laughter, joy & blessings.

Hey Armywifey,
Good luck on the search for a home. I am a former Military Brat & lived both on base in Ft. Riley as will as in Junction City. 1958-60 & 1968-1969.
What about Ogden, or even Abilene?
I have not been back since I left in '69 and back then it was still kinda "Mayberry", I had no idea it has grown so.
Hang in there, the perfect home is waiting for you.
