Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 08:57:51 AM You know the ones, that have pretty fabric patterns. I don't know what to do with them. I want to use them somehow, but just can't think of anything to make. I have about 6 or 7 of them, but none with the same pattern. Three of them I absolutey love the pattern and colors. I have hung on to these for 3 years or so, cause I can't think of anything to make. ~~Blessings, Mikki Jo

Posted - Apr 29 2007 : 03:31:53 AM how about a blanket
I discovered flour sacks in an old abandoned house last summer
All were just the white color, so if they had been patterned, i'd have found a granny somewhere to make a quilt or blanket
you just can't beat the softness
I use mine for canning. Instead of newspaper, i spread these out to absorb messes and spills, then just wash and use over again!
And when we got our new puppy back in December, they made for a nice soft bed/nest. |

Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 10:42:35 PM I feel the same way Rhonda. I get them out ever so often and admire them, then fold them back up and put them away, lol. I can't wait to make something out of them, but at the same time I hate to take a pair of scissors to them. I'm a hopelessly sentimental. lol ~~Blessings, Mikki Jo www.mikkijo.etsy.com

Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 10:05:07 PM Mikki, I have used flour sacks to make old fashion "make-do" pin cushions. Each section is a different fabric. They came out really neat. This way you can use up small sections and your fabric will go farther. If you're like me, it's hard to let go of those old timey fabrics! I like to make them last! LOL Rhonda

Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 6:07:15 PM Funny that this thread came up! I was just taking out the flour sacks I have collected from ebay because I am planning to make a quilt using only them. I thought it would be nice to have a quilt that looked just like it would back then. I am not sure I have enough, but I will hunt for a few more on ebay as I go along.
I love the idea about the aprons and appliance covers too. You are all so inspiring!

Posted - Apr 28 2007 : 09:17:57 AM I would vote for aprons too..or maybe cute toaster or mixer covers or if they have alot of stains and stuff the small pieces could be apron pockets or pot holders maybe???? Lucky you!!!
