I couldn't wait to share this hint with all of you: I detest the facemask type winter wear! I can't stand the condensation. Last week when temps here were cold and I had to go out to shovel, a friend suggested I put a layer of vaseline all over my face. He said it would block the wind from actually getting to my skin for awhile. I tried it, and wow! what a difference it made. I make no claims about frostbite prevention, and I only stayed out for about fifteen minutes, but my face was warm when I came back inside. I wiped off the excess with a clean cotton rag. I think the vaseline helped my face too. Best of all, I didn't have to suffer that "wet, cold, dog nose" feeling!

Enjoy the weather!

If it's not illegal, unsafe, or immoral, why not try anything once? Who knows? You may come back for a second helping!

Great tip! I know that vaseline really helps hold your skin heat in as it doesn't really breathe. I had forgotten about this tip so I am very glad you posted this! :)

That's a great idea! I'll try it next time and will try to get my boys to stand still long enough to get it on their faces too--I pity the person that tries to get between them and the door when they are on a mission to go sledding!
