Just a quick idea, gals. I had some freshly ground allspice leftover from trying out my new grinder (see Farm Kitchen forum), and I use a candle warmer to scent up my kitchen. The pumpkin pie scented wax had lost its fragrance, so I threw in a couple good pinches of allspice. Yummy! now my kitchen smells like pumpkin pie again! I don't think this would cause a hazard (there is no flame). Another tip; I got this candle warmer for free (it's the electric variety), but I had some Scentsy wax hanging around, so I got a little pimento jar, set it in the warmer and put in a couple wax pieces. Works great.

I'm not nuts about the fragrance chemicals, and I know they're there, but it's one of my vices, I suppose!

oh Amanda, great idea about using the lil jar on your warmer...I have an elderly nearly toothless kitty that I have to feed babyfood to(when I am too lazy to grind & puree up left over chicken for her).
So needless to say I try to be frugal & re-use these lil jars, but you can only use so many...mostly for storage of small items....
I like using them inside glass sconces(to set my votie candles in)...but what a great idea to use for the left over candle wax & then to kick it up a notch with cloves/allspice....
Thanx -4-the great tip.

Marian,

How interesting! I can't imagine not having my pumpkin spice smell for autumn. I think you may need a new supply...how much is it to send something to the Netherlands? Lol!

I can't wait for fall to whip out my 'spicy' smelling scents. I love anything with the 'pumpkin pie' scent and cinnamon. Yummy!

MMMM love that smell!! I was in the USA in Sept 2007, walked into a Bed-bath & Beyond. They had the loveliest Fall scents! I bought a room refresher "spray" thingy with PUMPKIN scent.....4 yrs later....I still have some left! It is a strong scent so use it sparingly lol. Esp. around this time of year, just a small "waft" in the bathroom to uhm.....take away some other nasty smells lol ;) LOVE it.....and the money I spend was WELL spend, it was quite "expensive" (for me) but because 4 yrs. later I still have some left....not bad IMO!!

I don't have a candle warmer anymore, but when I find one I will try to remember this (also brought a cute little can of pumpkin spice with me....not here in the stores so...)

Lol! I thought about oils in my wax, too. I mean, why not? I hate wasting perfectly good wax.

Now, we just need a badge....

great idea! I have often wondered what could be done with those fragrantless jars still half full with wax. I just can't bear to throw them away. So, right now I'm going to add allspice to my pumpkin candle and set it on the electric warmer.

I think I may also try essential oils in other candles.

Hey, I wonder if this will count for a badge!?! ha ha
