This month's "Hobby Farms" magazine says that rats are allergic to peppermint. Anyone heard of this??? It says real peppermint oil (not just scented) will send them on there way.
I think I'll pick up some peppermint EO when I drop off the eggs at the health food store this aft and try it. Should make the barn smell like a candycane...merry christmas chickens!!

This should also help keep ants and other insect pests away.

Did you try the peppermint oil? How did it work? We have rats at our cabin (outside, not in thank heavens!) But each time I leave I try to put all food in roden proof containers etc. so as not to entice them. I would appreciate any suggestions for getting rid of the critters!
