I've been reading the thread on no shampoo, and wanted to know if those of you that have gone "no shampoo" could share your shampoo bar recipes with those of us that might wish to experiment with going shampoo free as well?, but who want a bit of something different than putting acv or baking soda or eggs on our hair??
So..would you be willing to share?
Thanks in advance from all of us that may want to try going shampoo free too.

I don't know any recipes but one I like is by J.R. Liggett's Old Fashioned shampoo bar. They have several other natural products I like as well.

Hi ladies, I forgot that I posted a request for the shampoo bars too! Thanks for the replies. You are all so friendly that I can't wait to get home to read up on the things I love. This whole forum is so informative! To be honest with you, when I first saw all the info and the women who are sharing, I cried! I feel like I'm finally at home. Thanks to all of you...Lorrie

Here's a recipe that I got from one of the soap lists that I am on. I've not tried it so can't say how good it is. Please be sure to run this recipe through a lye calculator before making to make sure the lye and water amounts are ok.

Shampoo Bars

12 oz olive oil
10 oz coconut oil
8 oz castor oil
4.13 oz lye (8% superfat)
12 fl oz water (I use distilled... if you have rainwater even better)
4 teaspoon borax

dissolve 4 t. borax in 4 oz of water. (Subtract that 4 from the 12)
so you will now have 8 oz left to dissolve lye. (To dissolve borax
the water must be boiling) After you reach trace add this to the
liquid and hot process it. I did mine in the crock pot so that is
the only way to know how to do it. If you are more comfortable with
oven process you would know better than I what to do.

I strongly recommend at least for the first couple of times you wash
your hair to use a vinegar rinse. You can mask the scent of vinegar
with rosemary eo or something like that. Then use that only 1 time a
week or so. (Rinse is 1.5 Tablespoons applecider vinegar to 1 Cup of
water)

I do the same as Judith, Tina. Just my regular soap does the job fine, rubbing it right at my scalp makes a nice lather. I tried the ACV rinse for a while, but came back to using a detangler!

I make cold process soap; it works fine for shampooing without adding any "special" indgredients. I follow it with a rinse of cider vinegar and water.
