earth mama	Posted - Feb 19 2011 : 8:41:51 PM So I found a recipe online for this and made it along with some lip balm tonight... just posted the recipe w/ step by step pics on my blog for the hand salve... All organic, just shea butter, avocado oil, vitamin E oil, and some lavender essential oil for a light fragrance. Very easy! and less per container then trying to buy other organic hand salve out there, and you still have to really read labels... I feel like the shea butter actually helps protect my hands, tho frequent re-applying will be necessary for continual washing like you're experiencing. It melts and seems oily at first but it absorbs in a few minutes, faster than most lotions I've tried, and you're good to go again. Let me know what you think! I have alot of trouble trying to find something that works with my hands because they get so chapped during the winter. I'm a waitress and I also have to constantly wash my hands and use sanitizer which doesn't help. At all. Then again, my mom has the same problem so maybe its a trait. Their shipping can be a little pricey, though when I saw how thoroughly everything was packaged, I could sort of see why! But if you order in bulk, enough for 6-12 months, then it becomes far more reasonable because you can add a lot of stuff without their shipping going up by much at all. Just remember that most of the butters and oils have a 12-14 month shelf life. I ordered a bunch this time because I'm planning to give a good part of it away for b-day's and for hostess gifts for my baby shower in 2 weeks.
