I'm looking for a program, hopefully free to make a family cookbook for the girls in my family. I want us all to add our favorite recipes, form a book or booket that we can make and print at home? Does anyone know of such a program? Thanks in advanced!

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday and got a scrap book for $10 and a bunch of really cute food stickers and some colorful paper. I am going to do hand written pages for recipes we like and give them to my 2 girls for Christmas. I am going to get my mom to write out some of hers also. Thanks for another good hand made gift idea! This is so fun!

I also did this a few years ago as my 3 children went on their own.
Just hand wrote the family favorites on recipes cards and inserted them into little photo books. There are lot of extra pages for more recipes, and they all commented on how they liked how I handwrote them as they will mean so much more when I am no longer around. I know I sure love my mom's, grandma's and great-grandma's handwritten recipes.

Thank you for such a great idea. I am making all hamemade gifts this year. My youngest daughter just got married so this would be a great gift for her and her hubby. I am going to go look now for the templates. Thanks ya'll.

Oh Mary what a cute idea. I've been wanting to collect my recipes and write some down for a long time. I like the swapping of the recipes. Thanks for the idea.

I started a cookbook for our family several years ago. Everyone submits 2 recipes each year at Christmas. I type them, print them out on fancy paper, and then put them in page protectors. The first year I distributed them in a decorated 3 ring binder and each year we just add the new recipes.

For each of the granddaughters when they get married I have made a looseleaf binder with the Microsoft recipe program in it. It has helped one of my grandsons wife to learn to cook. So that has been worth the work.

Hope this helps.

I've always wanted to do this, it's such a good way to keep and pass on family favorites.

I hope you find a template that will work for you.

Michelle I have done that sort of thing for my children a few years back what I did is typed them and then took them to an office place and have them coil bound it and lamante the cover and so it was lots of fun and they were cheap!! That way you can add your personal touch if you want as well!!!

Thanks Michele, I did a search but I guess I was wording it wrong? I'll check into those sites. How lucky to have generations of recipes, that's wonderful! Thank you!!

A quick Google search shows that there are quite a few cookbook templates out there. It looks like both Microsoft Office and HP have free downloads. Would something like that work for you? A family cookbook is a great idea! I have been stocking up my recipes (and my mom's and grandma's and grandpa's) in 3-ring binders for years, it would be nice to have something a little more formal that I could pass out to the family.
