Posted - Aug 27 2009 : 07:47:07 AM So, on my mil's beautiful porch yesterday, in between two wicker chairs, I see this:
a white washed (apple) bushel basket, with a handmade skirt or garter around the top. Covering the center of the bushel basket is a circular metal tray that she bought at the thrift, painted and stenciled.
Inside the bushel basket for storage: a throw for chilly nights, lamp lighter for the oil lamp, a journal and bottle opener.
The tray on top acts like a little table for drinks and sits nicely, at the perfect height, between both chairs. Cuuute!

Posted - Sep 21 2009 : 08:13:42 AM Finally...this gives me the idea I've been needing for the 25 gallon stoneware crock we inherited from the inlaws. They used it as a planter, but we thought it was a shame to let it be ruined by the elements (over time, freeze and thaw = cracks). It's just been taking up space, but if I can make a lid of some sort, it could become a useful storage/end table. |

Posted - Aug 27 2009 : 08:35:12 AM I know you'll be able to find one to fit. It was perfectly round, probably 12-14 inches across? And she stencilled it really sweetly, too. I can't wait to see yours!!!

Posted - Aug 27 2009 : 08:33:09 AM I've got a bushel basket sitting next to the porch steps right now. I'm going to throw out the walnuts Susan gave me(starting to mold...long story) and clean it up tonight(been working on my bicycle from the watery basement and a couple of other things). Got paint(always got paint, even after losing a ton in the flood). Just need to go thrifting(punish me...) and find a tray!

Posted - Aug 27 2009 : 08:15:16 AM I thought so, too! She's very clever. The tray fit perfectly inside the rim of the bushel basket and it's just adorable.
