I was wondering if anyone had any recipes to make soap with cows milk, i live on a dairy farm so i have plenty of milk at my fingertips. I have never made soap before but i would love to learn how to make it.

Thanks! As much as I love buying all of your soaps, now that I'm laid off, I need to make my own really. I will call my hardware store today.

Dawn, try AAA Chemicals. Or, some Ace hardwares stores carry it (or will if you ask them to). Lowe's used to have it, but the one by us recently discontinued it.... :)

As far as I've heard you can replace the water in any soap recipe with milk. When I do it I just have the milk frozen solid and cut up in pieces and take about 15 minutes to add the lye to it.

25 oz olive oil
10 oz coconut oil
10 oz palm oil
5 oz shea butter or cocoa butter
16 oz milk (fozen solid)
7 oz lye

For this I didn't have palm so I just used olive oil in place of the palm oil.

What I do is put all the oils in a pot and mix the lye and frozen milk in a separate bowl until the lye is dissolved. Make should you add it very slowly or your milk will turn an orangish colour. After you're done that add it to the oils. Mix, don't worry it won't completely melt the coconut oil. I cover the pot and throw it in the oven (170 F) for 15 minutes. Take out and stir. Put in for another 15 minutes. Take out stir. Repeat. When it's the consistency of vaseline it's done and you can pour it into your molds. This soap is good to use in a couple days. This is hot process. With cold process you cannot use it for something like 6 weeks. I don't have that much patience to wait that long, lol.
