Posted - Jul 16 2009 : 9:26:53 PM As far as I've heard you can replace the water in any soap recipe with milk. When I do it I just have the milk frozen solid and cut up in pieces and take about 15 minutes to add the lye to it.
25 oz olive oil 10 oz coconut oil 10 oz palm oil 5 oz shea butter or cocoa butter 16 oz milk (fozen solid) 7 oz lye
For this I didn't have palm so I just used olive oil in place of the palm oil.
What I do is put all the oils in a pot and mix the lye and frozen milk in a separate bowl until the lye is dissolved. Make should you add it very slowly or your milk will turn an orangish colour. After you're done that add it to the oils. Mix, don't worry it won't completely melt the coconut oil. I cover the pot and throw it in the oven (170 F) for 15 minutes. Take out and stir. Put in for another 15 minutes. Take out stir. Repeat. When it's the consistency of vaseline it's done and you can pour it into your molds. This soap is good to use in a couple days. This is hot process. With cold process you cannot use it for something like 6 weeks. I don't have that much patience to wait that long, lol. |
