Posted - Nov 09 2005 : 07:54:36 AM I found some homemade soap at the MCC Thrift store. Obviously someone enjoys making it and donates it. They are large 6 oz? bars, about 4" x 2" x 1". I would guess a very basic soap recipe. Unscented. No ingredients marked, just labeled "Homesteader soap". $2.50 for two bars, can't remember if there is one bar or two in the bag. They are nice for our own use. There is also grated soap in baggies. As a crafter, would you do something else with them? Would it be worth it?

Posted - Nov 19 2005 : 7:19:54 PM have several friends that make hand-made soaps .. on my 'list of things to do' sometime in this lifetime .. to conjure me up a big pot of soap! i love the 'scented' ones .. most especially the cinnamon and vanilla ones! i grate them up and put them in antique 'dish swishers' .. and use it to wash my hands. xo, frannie |

Posted - Nov 12 2005 : 12:42:32 PM Margaret, the grated soap could be added to sugar or salt scrubs to make them cleansing scrubs. Which by the way gives me a good idea. I have a friend that just had her 6th baby and I wanted to give her something just for her. I will make her a brown sugar scrub with grated glycerin soap(that's what I have plus it's unscented). Hmmmm....may make some for myself...
