Can someone tell me what to compost and what NOT to compost. Also, Can I put newspaper on beds to help get rid of weeds?

Hi!
I am a big fan of composting!
As mentioned above-I compost everything except meat, feces, and grease. I put in eggshells, the whey from making cheese, tea leaves, coffee grounds and filters, and of course any vegetable matter.
One thing you DO NOT want to compost-old decorative gourds. I wasn't thinking and did that once-we had little gourd plants popping up EVERYWHERE in the garden that year!

Hi Deborah!
Yes! Newspaper is a great weed barrier. Just make sure to put a lot down and then put something a bit heavier like compost or grass clippings on top to weigh it down.
Things you can put in compost:
Anything of a natural nature except dog/cat/human feces and meat products. These can cause foul odors and carry dangerous bacteria that thrives in a composting situation. Dairy, vegetables, fruit, newspapers, cardboard, yard clippings, even weeds can all be composted.
