Posted - Feb 16 2009 : 4:39:52 PM hi came across your topic on homemade hot tubs. It is pretty neat my husband is in the process on making one. It is round made out of wood and he made a woodstove to put inside it. The only thing he is tring to figure out to seal it so it doesnt lick water. Someone told him to put water into it and it should swell the wood up and seal on its own. It didn't work. So that is what my husband is working on. Cann't wait till its done. Would like him to build an old fashion outhouse to use as a changing place exspecial for winter time. new farmgirl sister #462

Posted - Feb 09 2008 : 4:41:18 PM we have some friends who are the epitome of Mother Earth News perfect readers. I swear it. Anyways, they have a hot tub that heats with wood, is encased in field stone and is made from an old huge water trough. It's really very neat and Rob is thinking of building one for us as well. It has a nice drain that drains into a tank that is then recycled for the garden...I told ya they are pretty earth savvy....it's enviable and really makes you want to smack them around a little for being so g-darned perfect! LOL!

Posted - Jan 28 2008 : 5:36:58 PM mmm interesting thought. I think it would take a ReALLY long time to heat the water and I'm not sure how you would regulate the temp. I have seen "popup" hot tabs.
