Today I am planting 3 bunches of red onion sets in my large raised galvanized tub. One bunch down - two to go. Seems to me that the bunches are smaller than they were a couple of years ago and cost more.

Michele and Heather, I am sorry your seeds didn't do so well. I rarely start seeds indoors for this same reason.

I have everything planted in the garden now except for our corn. I will be planting those tonight. My potatoes and radishes have taken off like crazy. I hope everything else does too!

Michele - I'm sorry to hear your seeds starting didn't go well, but it makes me feel a bit better. I tried starting a bunch of seeds for the first time this year and it failed miserably. Hopefully next year will be better for us both :)

Hope all your tomatoes thrive and you have enough to try drying them. I do like dried tomatoes in spaghetti sauce.

Put my plants in the garden this morning. I started seedlings and they just did not grow well. I planted seeds in March and the tomatoes are maybe 2 inches tall. I blame the dirt, which was for seed starting. I am hoping they will take off in real garden soil. I did purchase a few plants, so I might be over run this fall with tomatoes.

Sara,I love Glads! Back in my 20's I didn't know you could grow them in a. Home Garden, I thought they were only Greenhouse grown for the florist! They seemed so perfect, I didn't think they could grow out of a flowerbed! My neighbor got the biggest laugh when I saw them in her flower bed and just was in awe that they grew out of regular Soil!!
Lol!!
I planted them years and years out here in the country, the moles ate them every time.
I wish I could see yours!
We have had pop up thunderstorms every day for 2 weeks
. For the last 3 days, yesterday 3 in one day!!

My gladiolas are starting to bloom. Had to tie them up with garden twine because our Texas winds were bending them over. Thunderstorms during the night so we got much needed rain.

The other day I tied the cherry tomato cage to the deck railing because of the high Texas winds.

For the last couple of days & nights we have been under a severe thunderstorm watch but very little rain made it to Paris so I'll watering this morning. I was wakened at midnight last night to a tornado warning. The call said one was on the ground northeast of Paris. Hope no one was hurt and no damage. Haven't heard this morning.

Heather, here's to you having a bumper crop of strawberries.

Karen, hope the weather gets sunnier for you and your plants begin to thrive.

My flower and veggies planted from seed have struggled quite a bit. We have a few days of nice weather and then even more days of cooler temps and rain. Not sure what is happening but I don’t like it very much. I’ve never had problems growing marigolds from seed. This year it has been awful.

I hope you have a good rain and don't have to water! My tomatoes are only a few inches high - no fruit in sight yet. I did see some flowers on the strawberries though! We only have a few plants, but I'm ready for strawberry season.

Rain in forecast for tomorrow but if we don't have a good rain, it's back to watering my plants. My cherry tomato plant has tomatoes, waiting for them to ripen, to see how they taste.

This morning, I checked on my plants on the back deck. All herbs are thriving, and the one cherry tomato plant has blooms and one wee tomato. Rain over the last couple of weeks sure has been nice since I haven't had to water. Rain is so much better for plants than city water.

Went Pot shopping (not the smokeable one,, lol!) today... Also bought some plants, potting soil and stepping stones...
The plants will stay out during the day and I'll put back in the garage for the night..
Still a bit to early to put anything into the ground,,
There are 2 rules of thumb up here, no in-ground planting until the snow is melted off 'Mica peak' or until Mother's day.. yes, we have had snow the 1st week of June, albeit it's a rarity, but living in the NE side of the state near the Canadian boarder,, anything can happen! lol!

On Tuesday I planted a few seeds that are good with cold weather, but yesterday we surprisingly got snow again! Luckily it has melted today and will slowly start warming up again next week. Hopefully my seeds will hang on and still push through.

Gotta love Aldi! I haven't done anything outside. Our weather is too back and forth. I usually wait until late May.
I buy most of my plants from a local greenhouse. The owner is a close friend, and she BABIES her plants unlike anyone I have ever seen.

Sounds beautiful Sara!
Our Walmart has them for $9.97. they don't water, so they mark all the plants down after about a week. I got a white one for 8.00. I take the hanger off of them.

I added two rose-colored petunia hanging baskets to my side yard today. Aldi has 10" hanging baskets for $8.99. Best buy on hanging baskets I have seen in Paris, TX.

Thank you Sara! The companies are working so hard! I think all but the most outlying homes should be restored by Monday. Then cell/internet restoration will be targeted.

When asked “How are you?”, I reply, “Better than good!”

Sharon, I hope power is restored to all soon and no more ice storms for your part of the country.

Am enjoying “catching up” on the events here with you! Our town here in N MI is one affected by the severe ice storm. Electricity still not connected back to many homes (over 10 days) and cleanup crews & linemen everywhere. Today though it is in the 40s and sunny!

Finished planting the herbs this morning. Will have to get more potting soil before planting the flowers. The potting soil should be here by Wed so I will have to keep a close eye on the flowers to make sure they are moist and out of the wind.

We have plenty of flowers and trees blooming but I know we can still have frosts coming or even snow so I'm waiting it out yet.

I have been waiting and checking to see if things are starting to come up this spring, so far not much. We have been cold, so I guess things are not waking up yet. I do have some seedlings up, that I started in the house. Enjoy your flowers everyone.
