I planted peas a week ago Sunday, so that makes 9 days now, and then we had a major cold snap (6 days of below freezing temps) and now it's warming to 50's, but I see no seedlings. Is it hopeless, or am I just too darn anxious. According to my little chart :), they have this whole week to germinate, but that's if growing conditions are ideal, right?
I also planted potato tubers, and the same thing goes there....no activity.
Obviously, I'm feeling a little insecure about this...I was really hoping to be self sustaining this year, and I've studied and studied, and it would be just like me to ruin this thing....
Any advise would be helpful.

Well, I've got 3 kinds of potatoes--kennebunk, red somthing or other, and yukon gold; peas, I planted two trellises of Maestro Early peas. What do you have going?
There's not even a peep out there, but I think you must have some better weather your way. We're really struggling here with this last cold spell--all of the flowering things really got hurt. Boo.

Jonni, What kind of peas and potatoes did you plant? Is this your first time for each of these? My sugar snaps are up and look droopy from the cold snap, but I think they will bounce back.

I grow peas every year. Give them time, its been cold.

If it gets to be more than you can stand, gently move back the soil and check. Then brush the soil back. I wouldn't do this every day but if it makes you feel better, go for it!

All right. I'll TRY to be patient. I told my husband last night about my fears, and he said, "have you told your farmgirl people about it? See what they say--someone there will surely know..." He's right! I'm just too impatient, and I want PEAS!

Give them a little more time...they know the weather better than we do. The first bright and sunny day, they'll be popping their little heads up Im sure!

The cold weather will slow down germination and sprouting. As long as the soil isn't soaking wet and causes them to rot they'll be ok.
