How does Mary Jane, or anyone, actually get fruit without using any pesticides or fungicides? Maybe it's possible in Idaho, but it's not at all possible here.

I am on a low-toxicity spray program, as low as I think I can get away with anyway. If I were to try to go totally organic with my fruit trees there would be no harvest.

Any feedback?

I don't spray my fruit bearing trees or plants either here in NJ and must say that between the birds, groundhogs and the insects it's a 50/50 shot at how much we actually get to consume. If you are watchful everyday you can sometimes eradicate things before they start ( like tent catepillar ) in the cherries, but I am probably closer in climate to you so I know your frustration. The other caution I could give would be too practice scrupulous garden hygiene. Sterilize your pruners often, burn any diseased limbs, also annual leaf drop, remove and destroy any sign of insect presence. It's not a complete and total solution, but it does help.

I never spray anything and get plums, apples and strawberries. I planted more fruit trees this year (peach and apricot)
It could be just dumb luck with me. I just won't spray things.
