Last year on Father's Day we bought and planted a banana plant. We were assured that it would fruit in a year, and sure enough, we discovered baby bananas yesterday. Mt husband is thrilled and can't wait to eat his breakfast with them. Also, my strawberries are blooming and will soon be ready to eat. I'm also adding a picture of my new perennial plate flowers

Love the plate flowers! Some years ago thought about doing some of those, but it never happened. Maybe someday!

I went to a class about making those plate glass flowers. We didn't have to drill anything, but we used Marine Glass adhesive. That stuff is crazy strong!

That's awesome! Plate flowers are adorable and I might have just found something to do with all those mixmatched plates I love to collect at estate, garage, and yard sales! Thanks for sharing.

Gardening in south Florida is counter to everyone else: veggies are planted in the fall because summer is too hot & humid for lots of plants. I haven't had luck with tomatoes so I've given up on them. Sadly, I have a brown thumb and any plants I grow must fend for themselves.

How fun to grow your own bananas. We had a mandarin orange tree growing inside. We had it for about 12 years. We got delicious oranges regularly, but right before it died we had 30 oranges! We couldn't believe it. Hope your hubby enjoys his fruit. Thanks for posting.

Yes, I used E6000 on them. The plates on rebar have square salt & pepper shakers. The ones on PVC pipes have flattened forks or spoons.

Fun! I grew up in Louisiana and my grandma had a banana tree in her backyard, such good memories. And your plates are great, I've been wanting to make a few also. Do you have any tips for drilling through the plates?

You are very fortunate to be able to grow bananas and have strawberries going already at this time of the year! I hope you grab a bowl of Cheerios for yourself & join your husband when the first bananas is eaten. Enjoy!

Keep those garden photos coming please, we are starved for color here in the Midwest.
