I usually detest my subtropical climate. The intense heat, the constant humidity, and the rare distinction between seasons all irritate me. However, there are a few perks! My Queen Elizabeth rose bush is blooming for the third time since spring, and until this point, the petals have fried at the ends before the flower ever really opens (see heat complaint above)!
Well, with the mild temperatures we've had, the blooms have actually had a chance. I awoke to a busy bee toiling away inside one of my perfect blooms this morning!
What is blooming (or growing) in your neck of the woods right now? Kale? Hot house veggies? Cold-tolerant flowers? Share your pics below!

Beautiful color rose. Always exciting to have something blooming in the winter even in a 'hot' state. My Helebors are blooming and of course the pansies and some Primroses keep going all winter.

We live in the North. Everything is mostly deceased or sleeping now. Don't see new blooms til late April or May. Happy winter everyone. Enjoy your blooms.

Thanks everyone! Crazy weather indeed! We had a heat wave in October that seemed to push our rainy fall back a month, which has prompted even some wildflower blooms. We've had cool fronts on and off, but the heat comes back. I guess farmer's almanac was a little off this year! We're supposed to have a colder and wetter than usual winter from El Niño, but that has certainly not been the case yet.

Your rose is beautiful!
I have some very confused paper whites who expected to debut in January, but the 70+ temp heat wave here in northern VA coaxed them out very, very early.

Ashley your rose is beautiful. I'm in northeast Texas and nothing is blooming here. Leaves are still falling and falling. Backyard is covered but every time I'm ready to rake it rains. A lot of rain lately and with the backyard being shaded it takes forever for everything to dry out. May get them raked and bagged by Ground Hog Day.
No hard freeze yet so sage hasn't died back. Large potted rosemary on deck is green all year long. Chives, and 2 mints are in little greenhouse. Lemongrass, Greek oregano, and 2 mints are in cottage. So I still have some fresh herbs.

Nice to get three seasons of bloom. I'm sure that is even unusual for Texas.
We have gotten more rain in two weeks than we have gotten all year. We have some
serious flooding going on...in both WA and OR States. With more heavy rain for the
next few days.
Seriously some weird weather and temps all over the States this year.
Enjoy your Roses in December...it's a blessing from God.
