Posted - Oct 30 2015 : 3:32:33 PM I still have a few Humming birds hanging around,,, and so as long as they are here,,, and my Pineapple Sage is still blooming I keep my Hummer-feeders filled... but for the past 3 days,,, one of the hummer-feeders has been loaded with bees.... (nearest the 1 un-pruned lavender bush... The other feeder has no bees and so the hummers eat there.
I am of the mind that the bees are not bothering me,,, and they probably really need the nectar... so I leave them be.. (no pun intended)...lol!

Posted - Nov 04 2015 : 11:01:10 AM I've got bees on our hummingbird feeders, also. I haven't seen too many hummingbirds lately. Nice picture, Grace. Marly

Posted - Nov 03 2015 : 5:33:16 PM Great pic. Those girls are working hard to bring food back to the hive. You're being a good friend to these little incredible creatures.

Posted - Nov 01 2015 : 8:50:44 PM Brenda,,, I agree,,, it's been a tough time so we don't mind feeding them... I left 2 of my still flowering lavenders unpruned for the bees and butterflies... and around the corner my pineapple sage bush is still blooming to the delight of my hummers...

Posted - Nov 01 2015 : 8:44:46 PM This exact thing happened at my house this summer as well. I put up a second feeder for the hummers and left the bees alone. They were so thirsty!!! I would have to fill it every day and in a few hours it was all gone!! I wonder what is going on in nature that the bees felt the need to resort to feeding from feeders? At first I was not a happy hummer mom, but I realized that bees already have such a hard time surviving as it is. They didn't sting us at all. Now the red wasp on the other hand are a different story. Thanks for the pictures.
