I decided to try these new beans this year. They are a bush snap bean and are a beautiful burgundy/purple color. THeir blooms are lovely purplish flowers too. To me they taste very much like most green beans I've grown. I had some pieces of raw beans on my lunch salad today and it was yummy.
I cooked the batch in the pressure cooker which is how I always cook fresh beans from the garden.
Lo and behold! After they're cooked they aren't purple any more! They look like any other green bean!

Diana,
I went to the nursery yesterday to see if they had their 2016 seed supply yet . . . thought if they did I'd pick you up some.
They don't have it yet. They usually do in the fall and you can purchase them before next spring. I'll check again!! I might just plant these exclusively next year! Forget the others. I'm kinda tired of yellow wax beans too!

Diana, I get my seeds from a local nursery/greenhouse. The brand for these seeds are Lake Valley Seeds in Boulder, CO. The packets say "non-GMO, untreated seeds". Used their brand for all my garden seeds this year.

Good point Diana! They are easier to pick because you can see them better!
I have two rows of green beans that are gonna be harder to pick. Should have made them all purple, huh? :D

I am putting these on my list for next year I have always said why can't the fruit be a different color so it is easier to pick.

The leaves are green, but darker than other green beans and the veins are kinda purple.
Kinda wondering where the purple went!

I picked up some of these at the farm, and was also surprised when they turned green. So much for my fancy tri-color bean dish! :)

Happy Day!

That's too bad they don't stay purple. They're awfully pretty purple. But at least they're delicious!

This is what they look like before cooking!

After pressure cooking they're no longer burgundy/purple. BUT, they are soooooo yummy!
