Posted - Jul 04 2015 : 11:02:22 AM Our weather is not cooperating today, with dreary skies and forecasted showers all day. It may be just dinner with the family this year. So far the parade and band concert has been cancelled, and we're all crossing our fingers for fireworks! But it's a wonderful day nonetheless!:)
Happy Day! Peace in our hearts, peace in the world Amy (Sister#6098) www.danaherandcloud.com

Posted - Jul 04 2015 : 09:51:19 AM We went to our local parade. It was awesome, typical "Deep in the Heart of Texas" style. An hour and a half of horses, tractors, antique tractors, antique cars, four wheelers, our high school band, fire truck from every community in our county, & floats. Floats of cheer leaders, day care, senior care, and of course businesses. We had lots of red white and blue on flags, banners, clothing, etc. We had a lot of Confederate flags, because most true Texans had an ancestor who served.A history lesson unfolded before the eyes of people of many different races, many who are not native Texans or even native Americans. No one was angry or ugly, no rainbow colors splashed about. Just true American spirit and love. I have never seen so much candy, flags, water, watermelon wedges, fans, etc. Passed a Out or tossed. There were even a few water cannons that gave us a sprinkle now and again. I am proud of our community.
