So I was sorting through some old seed packets and found a packet from 2011.... I decided to just dump the seeds out on the side off our retainer wall.... thinking the seeds would never grow,, lol!
Yep, gotz a patch of radishes,,, and yep some of them are about a week away from plucking...
Am I surprised? not really, You could toss radish seeds on the side walk and they probably would grow! lol,!

When my daughter was a wee lil girl, she wanted a garden so we planted radishes because I knew they were fool & kid proof! lol!

I have planted radishes several times and have only gotten a very few radishes. I get nice looking greens but no radish. This year I was in California for a couple of weeks and the radishes went to seed. They were covered with nice plump green seed pods when I got home. So I tried the pods and while they were green they were very very tasty. As they started to dry and the seeds inside got bigger they were tough and not so tasty. I will now plant radishes for the pods, very tasty and a much larger harvest as they had lots and lots of pods from each plant instead of just one radish.

ok, fast forward from May to Aug...
those lil pods are the seed pods on my radishes...

I have always harvested my radishes and never let them go to seed... but I had a couple this time that were sort of yucky looking so I didn't bother to pull them..
Now the lil green pods have turned brown and guess what? I have next years seeds!

the pods are paper thin and only yields about 1/2 doz seeds each...
So next year I will not buy a packet of seeds, but rather, I will plant these seeds...
I can hardly wait for next year's crop! lol!
I feel like a true farmer!
