Aug/Sept 2014 issue of MJF mag. on first page is a picture of hen n/ chickens in a pair of cowboy boots. Loved the idea.

Yesterday and today I am making mine out of a pair of men's old work boots. Bought at Salvation Army a year ago for $5. They have been weathering outside ever since. They have even turned green in some places ~ which only adds to the look.

I will keep one boot and my sister, Betty, has already spoken for the other one. To keep peace in the family I will look for another pair of old boots for my other two sisters. Also, I've used up all my plants so will have to buy more hen n/ chickens.

The hardest part is cutting holes in the boot for drainage and cutting out holes to put the plants. But, they are so worth all the work - Can't wait to show my boot off next to Jubilee garden flag in May.

I love the "garden in a boot" idea . . . someday perhaps I'll give it a try!

I think (or hope) there may be a digital camera in Sara's future!! YOu have so much to share, and we all want to see it!
Get a cheap one and have your niece show you how to upload pics.

Dawn, I'll post a picture as soon as my niece comes over again to do it for me. I have a growing list of things for her to take pictures of and post.

Have fun making your boots. Yours will look beautiful beneath your farmgirl flag. Your sisters are very lucky to be receiving boots from you too. Can't wait to see pictures of your garden. The ice and snow is slowly melting away here. It will be awhile before we can garden yet here in the Chicago area.
