Hello Lovely Ladies,
In my part of the country (Texas Gulf Coast), we have to start planting earlier in the spring/winter to have a harvest before temperatures reach triple digits and the bugs eat everything, so I'm already planning my little balcony garden.
I'm curious to know some tried and true seed companies y'all might recommend. I'm looking for organic and/or heirloom varieties, preferably varieties that don't mind a lot of heat and sun.
My favorite for wild and natives species is the Mountain Rose Herbs herb seeds, but for the more common annuals, I'm overwhelmed by my choices

Thanks ladies! Catherine, yes, I'd love to know the varieties you grow. Most of the gardening and planting guides don't take our heat into account! Our local CSA provides produce November to June because the rest of hurricane season is just miserable. That's our real growing season!

I use Baker Creek Heirloom seeds, Bountiful Gardens, and Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. I love heirlooms. Good luck

Hey there, Ashley! I'm in the Houston area.
My favorite seed catalog for heirloom and organic is Seed Savers Exchange.
Check with your county extension office for specific varieties that grow in your area. Your extension office may also have a master gardeners program. The volunteers involved in the program love to share seeds, cuttings, rootings, etc... They might even have a plant sale coming up.
If you're near me and live in zone 9 or 10, I'd be glad to share the varieties of things that I grow.

Ashley, I live in Paris - northeast Texas - near the Red River.
I mainly grow herbs and flowers with a couple of vegetables. Most of everything I grow is in containers. I have ordered all my seeds for this year. The last order is due tomorrow. All but 1 pkg of flower seeds came from the following.
