I like sharing my plants with others but what to put them in is another matter. I have used everything from zip-lock bags, newspapers, to plastic pots that other plants came in. They worked but weren't always pretty.

I have been looking for shallow containers to put hen & chickens babies in. Yesterday I opened a small can of salmon. It was one of the sizes I was looking for so I washed it. The paper came right off but it left a spot of glue that wouldn't come off, so, I put it in the freezer. Somewhere I had heard that helped in removing glue.

It didn't work but the time in the freezer had turned the can from gold to a pretty shade of golden olive green. I stuck a pretty garden label over the glue and now I have a pretty container to give away.

I am looking for more ideas on give away containers.

old chicken feeders, old watering cans, jars that candles come in, old pails...

I use a paint for plastics. You can get it at Wal-Mart. I really like using the glass jars and stones. You can tie some raffia or ribbon around it. Makes a nice gift.

Forgot to ask what kind of paint do you use on plastic? I have sponge painted clay pots with house paint and craft paint.

Laurie, I really like your ideas especially the stones in mason jars. I have many different sizes of jars hidden here & there that I won't mind to see them go.

Sara, I have cleaned and painted used plastic pots, put colorful stones in old mason jars to put cuttings of plants.
