Jenny, I am up by Oakhurst, east of Fresno, up the mountain...
I heard on the news the other day that the 'Maderos Ranchos' was in a stage 4 water shortage...absolutely no outside water use.. .
like you guys on the west side,,, farmers are hit the hardest... you have the flower fields, vineyards & olive groves... that need the water...
Our community is in a stage 3, meaning we can only water 2 days a week.... (outside)... so there are a lot of brown yards.
Keeping fingers crossed for a rainy Autumn.

Drought conditions here too..so sad to see brown yards and lakes drying up. Our saving grace has been a city owned well with hydrant that is free to the public.we haul water with a utility trailer and 225 gallon tank.it is untreated water not for drinking but is wonderful for the yard and trees.i sure hope they never close it!

My "Go To" place!

Thanx Melina,,, yep, we all are having some odd weather in one way or another. PA., was getting hammered w/rain...
WA & ID are having storms and winds & fires
and here in Central CA.,, as Maryjane wrote about, (pg 32 in the June/July issue)we are being hit hard with stage 3 and 4 in some areas, by the drought.
This is a predominant agri-area, fruits, veggies & nuts... it's sad to see so many smaller farms going dry... My uncle, who has 300acrs of combo. grapes & almonds has had to access his well,,, and doing so, incurs a huge water bill... This is a 3rd generation family farm... kind of scary... that being said, the last time the Central Valley had this severe a drought was in the early 1970's...
Let's hope this is the last drought year....

I feel your pain. Last summer we experienced the same thing here in Colorado. We were using dishpans to wash and rinse dishes, then pouring the water on plants in the yard to keep them going. Also used rain barrels, deep leaf mulch and straw in the garden. Now we have more rain than we can use and the garden is going wild. Here's hoping you have the same problem next summer.

The morning breeze has secrets to tell you. Do not go back to sleep.
