1. Little tip: the hand-held garden hoes aren't exactly the greatest tool for digging up pre-existing roots unless one needs exercise or knows exactly what they're doing. I learned this tonight as it is the only garden tool I have, and it was high-time I got some seedlings in the ground.

2. Do any of you ladies know where I might find someone willing to mow my lawn and possibly plow up a small area of it for my garden space? I need it to be a barter (beer or baking for a day's work), on the super-cheap, or free. I've posted to Craigslist, and nothing doing. My landlord doesn't like the grass to get higher than an inch. I have a push-reel mower, but when I got it, the grass was already too tall for it to cut successfully. I cannot afford a local lawn service, and the neighbors cannot loan me theirs -- they did offer to cut for $20 about an inch and a half ago, but I didn't have cash on hand at the time. I'm seriously about to go over the yard with my scissors... It's getting embarassing.

3. ...I'm wore out.

Hay Mz Laura,

Find the local Boy Scout troop and offer it as an Eagle Scout project or community service event. Bake them cookies. Won't hurt to inquire, anyway.

Hugs and prayers, Daizy

A good day is when you find ALL your ear tags! I wonder how my cows would like my Farmgirl apron??

Do you live near Lenior Rhyne University? If it is only a few miles away, walk there and post a sign. There must be some neighborhood boys that would love to mow for a fee.

Great idea!! Thank you.

I don't attend church, but there is a university just a few miles away. I wonder if any of the guys who attend might be living at home nearby and have a lawnmower...

Laura, how about some local high school boys or college boys. Talk to your church and maybe someone might know someone else.
