I will have space for an herb garden next year and I am thinking about what kind of medicinal and culinary herbs I want to plant. So far I have

Basil - planted next to tomatoes
Tarragon
Chives
Spring Onions
Hyssop

I am looking for suggestions on what other herbs I should plant for my own use. I use lots of herbs in my cooking and try to find good remedy herbs. I already have plenty of sage. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Oh how wonderful you are growing herbs! They are so easy and fun to grow. In my garden, I have lavender, sage, chives, spearmint, lemon balm, thyme, lemon thyme, oregano and sweet marjoram. During the summer, I add basil and rosemary since they won't overwinter here in N. Idaho. I love to dig herbs and pot them up in pretty pots and share them with family and friends. Good luck and enjoy your herbal friends!

rosemary for sure, Lemon balm and calendula. I love just smelling the rosemary I find it the most soothing smell in the world. I also grow catnip for both me and my cats, and of course camille.

Don't forget sage! There are so many varieties. We also like Thai Basil.

I use a lot of winter savory and summer savory. It is great for flavoring roasts and steaks. I throw quite a bit of it in my crockpot with a roast and a few other things and it makes such a difference.

I love love love my peppermint. I have tummy troubles (acid reflux) and a cup of freshly made peppermint tea calms everything down. Careful though! It will take over your world. Dries up nicely as well. It is still growing in our greenhouse, so is very hardy!

I second the oregano and lavender. Maybe some garlic?

I always have garlic chives, oregano, rosemary, parsley, lemon balm, thyme, lemon thyme, and several different mints.

I really like tulsi tea and am going to try and find some seeds for next year.

If you would like to try garlic chives and parsley, I could send you some seeds from my plants.
