Our small communities fall festival is this weekend and one of the events is the mammoth vegetable contest, where each variety of veggie has their own category and is judged on size. Here is my entry, it started by accident of course 3 weeks ago when I missed this one picking so I just left it on and have babied it along to todays weight. My giant zucchini weighs in at 7 lbs. 5 oz. Can't imagine how many cups of shredded that is going to be, although I have tossed quite a few of its evil siblings over the fence into the corral lately and this one might meet the same fate. Wish me luck girls!

Yep, the coveted blue ribbon will come home with me, the winning entry went home with someone who said the would love to have a zucchini for bread. There was only 1 other entry in my category, but holy cow you ladies would not believe the size of some of those veggies. A 15 lb. cabbage that hadn't split, a 3 lb. beet and the giant pumpkins and potatoes oh my. It was a fun morning and nice to visit with neighbors we don't see much this time of year and of course the promises of I'll beat you next year.

Hope you WIN!!! Those are the best kind for stuffing and eating. And none of mine were
big this year. I tried the Striped Zucchini and they don't get very big. I left two out
on the vine to see how big they would get if just ignored and the sun-baked them to hardness
like a gourd. So, I will be using them with my fall decore this year. LOL

Have Fun At The Fair!

blessings,
Peggy

sneaky hidden giants make great stuffed zucchini, easy to make and everyone loves it...and I would certainly say you have an excellant chance at that blue ribbon, good luck...

Hi Julie,
Oh my, keep those zucchini's you have and use them. I know it is work to bake muffins and loaves to freeze, but cook them up in honor of all the gardens that failed this year. Everyone I have talked with gardens did miserably and they are so disappointed. Extra bounty is a good thing for you :-) I hope you win at the fair!
