I just posted the picking of our apples on my blog. This is the first year that we have large apples. We do not live on a farm, but live in a small city.

Hi Marybeth, how do you put up your apples for pies? Have you ever frozen them?

My son said that I should try another place for the fruit picker. It may not have the warning.

We used to have a fruit picker. I really liked the one that we had. The ones that we find now say, "Warning.....contains chemicals that have been known to cause cancer-prop 65."

I'm so wanting to pick apples - I am so happy for you all to have been able to start already! YUM!!!!

Sharon - have you ever used an apple harvester to reach the fruit on some of the higher branches? I love them! Here's one from Lehmans:

https://www.lehmans.com/p-3059-fruit-harvester.aspx

'Just wanted to share a pic with you in case you (or anyone else) haven't heard of or seen one before. 'Might be a little safer for you, vs. a tall ladder... I'm a bit of a klutz sometimes, so unless my hubby's nearby to catch me, the harvester is definitely a better option! LOL!

Please note: the negative review is not due to the functionality of the harvester, but rather due to the country of origin. I'm sure with a little investigation you will be able to find one American made! For that matter, with a little farmgirl ingenuity I bet you could make one!! :)

Happy Harvesting, Girls!

Hugs -

Nini

I will look at your blog. We picked our Jonathan apples yesterday. Now for applesauce and more pies. MB
