Any good ideas on something to cover and cool my broccoli and cabbage. It is suppose to get 100 plus in the next few days. I really don't want to spend any money.Would a bed sheet work?

Oh, girls! I feel so bad for you! Diana - I would definitely go with Tina's advice. I also read somewhere that if you fill plastic bottles with water and then place them around the garden (or individual plants) like a hedge it will help regulate the temperature around the plants, day and night. I haven't tried it, but if you have plastic bottles on hand and a supply of water available, it might be worth a try. You can also put water in plastic bottles and puncture a small hole into the bottom to give your plants and soil a slow watering - much better than a drenching in hot weather like that! Yeow....112 degrees? I heard it was 130-something in Death Valley the other day....that just seems unreal.

sheet would work great, as long as it is white or very light colored, and I would also keep it damp, we are gonna be 112 plus, with heat indexes of 117 plus...
