Posted - Jan 21 2013 : 1:58:39 PM Okay spring starts March 20. So I am out and about in the yard and back at the garden area. Weeds weeds weeds....leaves and other debris. Battery dead on the garden tractor from sitting so long. So I hooked up the battery charger. Got the 4 plum trees planted my brother in Alabama gave me.. My cabbage have decided to turn red on me. Ho! Hum! My mustard greens are not growing to fast,. Getting geared up for the spring garden. Not so sure about this growing in the pipe above ground yet. Still afraid to plant the cocktail tree just in case we were to get a late freeze. I have never planted a lot of flower bushes in my yard. But that is on my list this year. Lots of landscaping to try out. Is anyone else getting a plan together yet for their garden?

Posted - Feb 06 2013 : 09:42:22 AM Back out to the garden today. I planted 32 tomato starts from seed. I planted 4 different kinds. I hope they all sprout up. I refuse to pay $3.48 for a tomato plant. That would be $108.00 for 32 plants. I planted all of those for $7.00. looking for green beans , squash and zucchini seeds now. I am not planting potatoes this year.

Posted - Jan 22 2013 : 11:18:53 AM I find this all very amazing! Here in the Chicago area it is 5 degrees with loads of sunshine. The ground is frozen solid and it would be impossible to pull anything out of it! Have fun gardening & keep us northern farmgirls posted! Spring is just a dream right now for us!

Posted - Jan 21 2013 : 8:29:32 PM I spent part of the last two days pulling weeds. It was so nice being out in the yard. Tomorrow I plan to mow the yard. I cannot wait to start the garden. Spring fever! Marly

Posted - Jan 21 2013 : 5:25:56 PM Dorinda..I just got a new apple tree planted, so excited to see how it does, its been in 2 weeks and so good so far. I see you mentioned about a cocktail tree I just ordered one of those along with a 5 in 1 pear tree. Mine have not come in yet. I normally stick to all heirlooms but those looked so interesting, so we will see. I sure hope yours does well for you. My garden is weed free all mulched over, only because my fall/winter garden was a complete loss. I can not wait to get garden up and going for spring soon. Lots of babies are sprouting out in the greenhouse.

Posted - Jan 21 2013 : 2:41:37 PM I sure am! I live in southern Mississippi and have been in the yard for about 3 days. I just got the Mary Jane Outpost book and the Lifestyle book for Chahanuka so I have been "glamping" my back yard. I have repotted a bunch of bulbs and drawn some pictures of new hard scape I would like to try. Its very exciting!
It all comes back to the ground!
