I loved the photos of Mary Janes creative pumpkins in the latest Mary Janes Farm October newsletter that we received by E-mail.
So I suggested that there be some sort of pumpkin decorating contest. She asked me to please suggest this on the forum so Here it is. Lets all decorate a pumpkin and share a photo of it here on the forum. This was the suggestion from the news letter.
And now, here’s a cool Halloween idea:
I’ve always loved putting faces on pumpkins, but once they’re carved they don’t last very long. (I start thinking Halloween October 1.) And painting faces on them doesn’t seem farmgirl enough. Too perfect. So this year, I came up with a simple solution.
I spent an hour Sunday afternoon wandering around outside and inside looking for things like old doorstops, hinges, can lids, scouring pads, belt buckles, paper clips, sewing bobbins, etc. It’s fun to wander around like that. It made me feel like a kid again!!! (My father was big on treasure hunts.)

Hi Bramble and Everybody Else,
I am a little  embarrased but I am not the designer of these adorable pumpkins. They were posted by Mary Jane on the e-mail news letter I got last week. Soooo Mary Jane is the designer of this project. I just helped out by suggesting the fun contest or just plain fun project on the forum because she asked me too. I think I might have a little more free time than she does but not much at the moment. I miss being on the forum on a regular basis but will step in on occasion as time allows. We have a family pumpkin decorating gathering in Edmonds on the 29th so I am taking my pumpkins with me to this great FUNNNN event and will post the results on this page after we are home.
Decorate with a fun spirit! Can't wait to see the results.

Fun idea Eileen! And I especially like your "fancy" display prop!
I think I might borrow that ladder idea out closer to the front of the property by a bench we have. You are always full of clever and resourceful ideas! (Can't post pics yet... still no digital camera!)

I got one of my pumpkins today. I love it. It has a really fat stem!!!

We're going to go and get pumpkins this coming weekend from the field. I can't wait to decorate them! This sounds like fun to me, too...

I have 2 pumpkins sittin on my kitchen counter waiting to be decorated. I didn't want to cut into them as I'd like to use the insides for roasting the seeds and then for a few pies or so.
So..I think I'll start thinking up a way to decorate it in a goofy way..hee, hee. I have some ideas floating around already. ooh what fun. I'll post a photobucket link when I'm done.
