I pulled up all of the okra plants, tomato plants, etc... I don't have the time I need to start another garden. I will miss harvesting the crops.

Nini: I agree. It certainly was a weird summer here, too. It came in and went with a blur. However, here in SW Louisiana our summers are long. I'm still mowing the yard in November. LOL
I hated to pull up the gardens, but I'll look forward to planting next years gardens.

I've been putting it off, but the rain has been my excuse, so I don't feel too, too bad! :) I was able to start a fall garden, so I've still got new stuff coming in - peas, spinach, turnips, beets, kohlrabi, carrots, lettuces...I'm very grateful. The only things that I have lost so far are all of the squash and melons (Squash bugs - I hate them!), the cucumbers, the beans, the tomatoes, and although my cauliflower plants are growing, there isn't an edible cauliflower to be seen out there. My cabbages are still growing, the broccoli is still producing, the brussels sprouts are looking pretty good... I've even got new growth on my black beans and cow beans! We've yet to touch the potatoes in the potato condos because some of the plants are still flowering and only are few are just now starting to die back (but I'm tempted.. I'm REALLY tempted!). I'm still getting peppers of all sorts and eggplants (crazy to me!)... And the kale is just the gift that keeps on giving! Oh my!!! We could LIVE on this stuff if we had to! If the news tells us there's going to be a frost, we're out there covering the plants with blankets. Other than that, I'm just going to wait and see what happens before we pull up the rest! It's just been such an odd growing season this year. What we usually get, we got very little of, if any; and other things we didn't really expect to produce are still growing strong! I'm extremely grateful, but it's definitely not the norm.
This summer was just weird, don't you think? And here it is the end of September, and it feels like something's missing... Like summer was a blur of extreme heat, little rain, and uneventful days that ran together. It's like something is off... something is missing. Just... weird...
Well, before we know it, it'll be time to start seeds again and dig our fingers into that fresh-smelling, crumbly-rich new spring soil. For now, I'm just planning on making the fall last - it's my favorite season, to be sure - and to thoroughly enjoy the holidays!

I had to pick the rest of my tomatoes yesterday. They were still green, but we have had a few days of frost and all the plants are dying. Summer is over, winter on the way!!!!

Mine is running out too. Just some beans Zuc's and a couple pepper plants. I will miss it to but since snow is soon to come no garden till next year.
A sad and happy time.
