The best thing about summer is All this produce. The worse thing about summer is All this produce.

I never get to plan what to fix for supper. It is what ever I have harvested and needs eaten now. Tonight is turnips. Last night is was swiss chard. That is along with squash, squash and more squash. Also tomatoes every day.

Been busy freezing, canning and dehydrating.

We're starting to get a lot of squash, cucumbers, zucchini, and okra in. I knew I needed to blanch the squash and zucchini but didn't know about the okra. If I'm correct, blanching is putting them in boiling water for a couple of minutes and then dipping them into ice water, right? Also, if I'm breading the veggies (liked for fried whatever) do I do it before freezing or thaw them and do it. This is only my second year and I'm just learning all of this. My friend is going to come help me make pickles and keeps telling me the canning thing is easy. I have a pressure cooker and regular water bath canner. What do I use each one for? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

We were away for a long weekend. When we returned late yesterday, the crops had certainly produced a lot!!!! I have a huge pot of beans cooking, and lots of okra blanching. We picked about 20 tomatoes. Only one cucumber, they aren't doing too good.
