Posted - Jun 06 2012 : 3:30:00 PM I started to print photos of birds in our area, and place them in a photo album. The kids are helping label pages also. They are really enjoying it too.

Posted - Jun 23 2012 : 2:25:53 PM What a wonderful book Kristina! I just may have to copy you, and have some fun with my DD. I have my late grandfathers birding book, which I refer to very often. I just love to hear the birds! I have to search out a site that has the sounds of local birds in my area. So often I hear different sounds and wonder what they are. We went on a bird walk during the great backyard birdcount and the park ranger that led the walk was amazing! She knew the sound of birds from so far away- it truly was inspiring! Thanks for sharing! Hugs,

Posted - Jun 22 2012 : 12:02:21 PM We think it's a Chipping Sparrow. Check the photo here: http://www.ohio-nature.com/ohio-birds.html#bird%20pics
That site also provides bird sounds for us to identify too.

Kristina, What is the bird on the cover of your bird photo album? I took a photo of the same bird on a recent trip to Fishkill, NY. Thanks for the info. Annie Farmgirl Sister #3655

Posted - Jun 22 2012 : 05:32:17 AM How fun! And what a good project for the children. I just love birds and since living here in Florida I have seen so many different birds. We have Bald Eagles, Cardinals, Robins, Woodpeckers, Mocking Birds, Spoonbill Flamingos among many others. I am now thinking of a bird album since I hear that you are making one. Great idea!

Posted - Jun 07 2012 : 06:25:50 AM This particular album is smaller, so I am journaling on the backside of the photo, and labeling the birds. I may journal the information again on a small piece of paper and insert it in with the photo.

Posted - Jun 06 2012 : 4:08:21 PM It is a fun thing to do. It can serve as a Bird Watcher's Life List. These past few months I have seen several new birds I have never seen before and I am learning more about birds with each outing to find birds to photograph. Enjoy the search.
