We went to my favorite nursery on Saturday and found lots of wonderful little succulents to make a Fairy Garden with. Then we went to the little Goodwill in town to see if we could find any little items to put in the garden, and we found a bunch of English cottages for .50! I let Violet pick 3, and one turned out to be handmade in England and dated and signed, so we put that one up on the shelf and the other two went into the garden .

Janice (Miss Bee Haven) found Violet a little old wheelbarrow at the antique show on Sunday, and we put our garden in that~it was such a great project to do together and she was VERY proud of herself--so much so, she went inside, told the dogs about it and then the "Princesses" (her dolls) had a conversation all about it, too

Jonni,

How cool is that? Violet looks adorable with her creation :) I can't believe how big she is getting!
The garden is so cute, what a fun project. I like the idea of having it in a wheel barrow :) Thanks for making me smile :)

I love your fairy garden! I have been thinking about making one with my granddaughter and this inspired me to go for it. I went to the thrift store to look for little houses and they wanted $8.99 a piece for them. That seems like a lot for a thrift store. I guess I'll have to keep looking.

Oh my! I'm sorry I wasn't online over the weekend--these are such sweet posts about our little fairy garden! By all means, take ideas--and then post pictures of all of your Fairy Garden creations!!

My daughter is very "three" right now, so that means she's very literal. When I told her my thoughts about making a Fairy Garden, she was so excited and took it to mean that, much like Field of Dreams, if we "build the garden they will come" so bless her, she runs out each and every time we go from the house to the car, from the car to the house and squats down to see her Fairy Garden. I found one at Michaels that will sit perfectly in the leaf chair, so I think I'm going to put her out there one day soon, and Violet will probably just fall over from excitement!

She really does enjoy the garden, though--Janice also gave her three little mini animals, including a silver duck, that she moves around all over the shore line by the cottage and then back in the water saying matter of factly, "I'm a shiny duck. Now I'm in the water. Now I'm on the beach. Now I'm back in the water..." and on it goes :)

@Peggy ann--we would love to have Fairy poems! Especially written by a fellow farmgirl!
I will email you through the forum, thank you kindly!

Joanni and Violet...that is a most delightful Fairy Garden!!!! I am sure your Flower Fairies will love
living there.

I have been thinking about making a Fairy Garden too. I have an old mossy bird-bath that no longer
holds water...I think that would be almost as good as your wheelbarrow, what do you think?

I have written several poems about Fairies. If you email me your address, I will send you one to
perhaps frame for Violet's bedroom.

May all your dreams be Gossamer and Lace,
peggy

Jonni the little fairy garden is so darling. Your daughter is so adorable. How fun to have such a nice project to do togather. I did not know of fairy gardens until today but I am thinking of making one now. I may put my fairy garden in a place where I can enjoy it with my dolls.

How sweet and what a wonderful project for the two of you to do together! Someone is very creative. This looks just like what I would imagine a fairy garden to be. Have you been able to find any small fairy figurines? Violet is precious!

Very Sweet! My DD and I made one last year, and plan on making another one this year too! We saved all our goodies from last year to do it again. Love the wheelbarrow idea- just might have to spin off that!
Violet looks quite happy!
Thanks for sharing!

@Nancy-Jo--
Yes, the pets were very happy--it doesn't take much to please them, but she tells them EVERYTHING. The dolls have lenghty conversations about all things right now, so it's important to let them in what's going on, too :)

That's very sweet of you to think of us, Nancy Jo--how did you know we needed a new car ;0

Thanks, everyone! It's been SUCH a crazy day here at work, I wish I could BE a little person and go home and sit in this little garden to get away from it all!

We sure did have a lot of fun putting it together. Our fat dog, Elie, helped a little by lying around grunting and sniffing the pots of succulents, and it was just such a great project to get creative with.

Of COURSE, Janice, yours will be wonderful--I can't wait to see all the fun things that go into it!

@Lisa--we did miss you, for sure and yep, you're right, Janice is that and more!

Wow! You guys did a great job! I hope mine will be just half as beautiful! I'm glad the princesses approved. :) And that giant daisy will make a fab sun shade for the little people.

Lisa - We missed you on Sunday. Today, I was in an antique mall in Lou. and someone had a stack of round tree pieces like the ones your dh cut and gave us all. They were $20.00 each! Still love mine(became a table top on my porch).

What a good job, and I'm so glad the pets and dolls were made aware of this. How lucky you are to know Janice in person, wish I did.
Jonni, send me your address I have a little thing to send you, no, not a new car, just a very little thing.

I need a fairy garden too. Today my husband and I will be planting violas in our clay pots and I will tell him that they will become a fairy garden for us. I don't know if he will believe me but I will let him now that Violet has one and that I too can have one if she has one. I hope that I will be able to find a few cottages to place in my garden this year like yours has.

Thanks for the idea Violet. Enjoy your garden. I will look forward to some more pictures of your garden for inspiration.
