I transplanted some Horseradish root last fall but have yet to see anything. My rhubarb is coming back, so are my chives. My peas I planted on in March are sprouting. How long does Horseradish take?

My horseradish has been up for a couple of weeks now but I think we are at a lower elevation than you in Durango. We are right around 6,200'. We also had a pretty dry winter, did you wind up with a lot of snow? They might just still be sleeping.
On a funnier note, I had some people give me some rhubarb last year after I talked to them about theirs. They said a foreclosed house next to them that had some in the garden and it would die anyway so they dug it up and gave me some. Last year I kept thinking that was the funniest looking rhubarb. This year I took a picture and posted on this site and asked the fg's what they thought my mystery plant was. Turns out it's horseradish! Good think DH and I love the stuff! Everytime I hear either horseradish or rhubarb, I chuckle at my friends goof!

Be patient, it takes a while to show itself. Especially the first year. For good flavor wait to dig until after a hard freeze. I actually keep 2 plants going and dig each on alternate years. This allows them to get a little larger. Also make sure you contain them. plant mine in a 5 gallon bucket with the bottem cut out. I bury the bucket leaving only about 2" out of the ground. Plant the HR at the bottem. HR can be invasive. But it is wonderful!
