Hey ladies... we have these plants growing in the yard and are curious as to what they are. Thought one of you might be able to help! These photos are current (just taken yesterday) so they are in bloom... also, we are located in central Ohio. The first are these flowers:

Second, there is this bush... we're not sure if it's in the rose family or what but it's very aggressive. My boyfriend tried to take it out because he didn't like it (or at least didn't like where it was) and it grew right back up. It's always sending up more shoots from under the ground. We've seen some others in the area that are just enormous!

Leah, you definitely have an ornamental flowering quince (Chaenomeles). The fruiting varieties have larger flowers, bigger leathery leaves and a larger branch structure. Yours is sure a beautiful color!

Thank you so much! I knew someone would be able to help. The grape hyacinths are very pretty. Right now they're in the middle of the yard, but I may transplant some elsewhere. I was doing some research on the Chaenomeles... that looks like it, but I'm wondering which kind we've got. I don't think it fruits, but I'll have to ask.

I agree. Aren't they pretty?

Here's another photo of the ground right near the bush. You can see the reddish leaves poking up out of the grass where it's trying to expand.
