This afternoon, I weeded in the gardens for two hours. After two wheel barrels of weeds, I had enough for today. I do believe Spring is here in Louisiana. I don't remember having to weed so much so early!
Anyone else weeding?

I thought you were on your way, Amy Grace!!! I have two guests rooms all made up for you and your family; clean sheets, flowers, etc... Well, if you want to stay up there in all that cold weather and snow, okay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just kidding. Maybe next year.

Well! what are you waiting for? It's cold down here, in the low 40s. Can you handle that Amy? LOL. There will be NO weeding today. Much too cold. I've got a hundred of other things that need to be done. Come on down.

Thanks for that thought Amanda. We have a lot of wild rabbits around here. I don't think our four outside cats would like any more. I could surely scoop enough of the "Bunny Gold" and put it in the gardens. Once I get the weeds under control, it's not so bad. Have a great day!

Marly,

I decided years ago that weeds were simply a plant I hadn't found a use for. Three years ago, I bought rabbits and I feed them all of the weeds. Believe me, they eat like nothing I've ever seen. No wonder gardeners hate wild rabbit! In exchange, they give me "Bunny Gold"...their wonderful poo, which goes right back in the garden, thus making my weedpulling seem more worthwhile!

This week I FINALLY ordered a wonderful book Edible Wild Plants, which gives you plant ID, nutritional value, and how to cook/prepare the 'weed'. Who would have known that I am sitting on a nutritional goldmine? I can't wait to go out and try some today!

The only 'weed' that I HATE is Bermuda grass. I HATE IT. Anything else no longer bothers me.

Just a thought.

I usually do mulch. However, not to blame my sweet little outside cats, they love to scoot the mulch over their poop. So when I see it, I scoop poop and mulch. I guess I should keep adding the mulch. LOL

I could use other hands to help catch up on all this weeding. LOL. My dear friend in CA is afraid to fly, so she is out. Amy Grace, didn't you want to come down to Louisiana to see the Mardi Gras again? LOL

The ground here in the Chicago area is actually defrosted & I've been able to do some weeding in my beds. I certainly didn't have 2 wheelbarrows full, but I did have a bucket's worth. Normally we can't begin weeding until April, so it was quite novel to do it in the beginning of February.

Enjoy your warm weather, winter is trying to come back here.
