Best of luck to you and your babies! I've been meaning to grow lettuce in my window sill. I saw you can recycle those plastic tubs the organic lettuce comes in by using them as a mini greenhouse. Read the instructions here: http://www.ebfarm.com/planet/grow-something-green

Good boy Hobbs! I love and miss you.

Best wishes for a happy window garden, Brooke. Keep us posted on the development. I'm going to wait until after Christmas to start mine, so they don't get pushed aside during holiday decorating. Some nice fresh herbs would be nice...and something green for the hens to munch on too.

If you have a south-facing window, I think it would be worth it. I have started seeds in my basement windows every spring and I use them to keep house plants alive. My Bay tree also seems to like those windows. I don't think any others would get enough sun. Where I live, by the time the sun gets into the west in mid-winter, it is behind the neighbor's house! Got to love our beautiful snowy weather here (but this first blast can melt already!)

Has anybody tried to have a winter garden in, the window sill, here in Wisconsin? I am wondering if it would be worth trying.

Ooooo! What are you growing? My spoiled cats eat everything that I plant on the window sill, so I'm trying to grow chives and a few herbs in hanging pots.

Hugs to you and wishing your babies strength and health!

Happy Autumn!
