I have planted my seeds and started my plants for my fall garden.
So far I have 15 tomatoe plants sprouting up. Also some squash.
Seems like yesterday I was out at the potting shed starting plants for my spring garden. Boy time flys!!!! Hope I have as good as luck with my fall garden as I did with my spring garden!

Hope Floats, I usually plant the Big Beef Hybrid. But I am trying a new tomato plant this fall. It is Chalk's Early Jewel "TOMATO". It is an Exchange seed that my neighbor gave me to try.
She got them from our local feed store. He is into the exchange seeds. They were out dated so I was not sure if they would germinate or not. But so far I have about 15 starts that has sprouted up. I am excited I hope they do good. She gave me lots of other seeds also. I am trying the squash also. The package saids they were developed by James Chalk of Norristown, Pennsylvania. Introduced in 1910. Indeterminate, 70-80 days from transplant. Heavy yeilds round, 4-6 ounce red fruit.

Dorinda, what kind of tomatoes do you have started? I'm with the other Texan...it's been so hot here, 100 plus with no rain that it's hard to even imagine planting a fall garden this year. I't's been a challenge just keeping the cantaloupes and watermelon alive.

The only kind of fall/winter gardening I can do is in my cold frame! Gonna make a second one for this year.

HearthCricket Farm. Where the door is always open, and the coffee is always on.

You are so lucky to be able to garden in the fall! I wish I could keep my garden going all year long, however our first snow usually hits us sometime in early October:( Good Luck!!
