Now she says they're charging her with having expired licenses for her DOGS. I hope she keeps her attorney, maybe she can charge them with harrassment!

There is a rumor on her blog that the city is dropping the charges, so we will soon see! I'm following her on facebook.

This is absolutely nuts. In these economic times, people like this woman should be applauded for thinking of ways to supply food to their families, save dwindling resources like GAS used to MOW THE LAWN, and still have a very aesthetically-pleasing front yard. Those are some lovely raised beds, I tell you! What a ridiculous case, and what a waste of financial resources to pursue a non-issue! Let the girl garden already.

Yes, and her city has $$$ problems? Geez lay off the woman. Her's her blog too- http://oakparkhatesveggies.wordpress.com/

I hope several people lose their jobs over this, and pay damages to the home owner. I have an apple and nectarine tree in my front yard (which I planted) as well as other edible bushes. This is truly insane, and they don't have anything better to do? Make the officials do some community service pulling weeds, and start some community gardens. Maybe fast for a week, to see what it's like to NOT have food. As a Master Gardener I totally support people's right to grow their own food and feed themselves. I also support property rights.

Isn't it interesting how our society has changed in these ways....
In WWII it was even considered 'Patriotic' to plant a "victory garden" Now people see others as rebellious (I have even been called 'Old McDonald' which I smiled inwardly at, even though it was not meant kindly), for planting a garden!! I hope if anything good is to come of these lean years our Country is facing, it is to realize the real sense of what our country's potential can be...a template to others about being good stewards to the land, teaching our children fundamental skills, self sufficiency, and education..... and to keep striving for that potential!
