I'm not sure where else to put this topic since it has to do with growing grains yet does not fit exact in the Garden gate or any other topics. So here it goes:
I have been casually making videos about Homestead adventures for just over a year.
Last summer I began the plans for a series of videos on growing grains on a small scale. I acquired the grinder for the grains {as a spnsor in the series where they generously gave me a grinder of their company for use in the videos}. Before that i acquired a sponsor for the seed & scythe. Things were looking bright. I had MANY phone conversations with the grain/scythe sponsor, them willingly participate by supplying those items and even confirming the amount of seed I would need in our last talk when i called to ask of the expected shipping date. She did not know but assured me she would get back to me. So i waited. A month. Then I called to find out what was going and just got voice mail. I left a msg. for her to return my call. I waited 2 1/2 wks and called again to only recieve her voice mail. {before, she was rather good at returning my calls this way}. This happened over & over and I in no way wanted to be a bother but my timeline was down to the day for getting things started. needless to say, I never heard from the company or the person in charge.
Long story short. They backed out at the last minute. And backed out as in not returning my phone calls to finish their end of the deal by sending the items. I was left high & dry with a promise to the other company, I now can not complete thanks to the others actions.
I am at a lost on what to do. The scythe and grains were the main portion of the little series that would involve the grinder in the last few.
I have tried to find another source/spnosor for the grains/scythe but came up dry..again. With phone conversations sounding positive but never returning a call to me.
I am frustrated and down right angry this other company has put me in this position.
I am at a lost on what to do. the actions of others have put me in a position where I look bad and i MUST find a way to fullfil my end of the deal to the grinder company.
I would like your opinions on what i should do so as not to back out on this one great company who gave me their trust on my word.
We have had rain 75% of the growing time, rotting out my black oil sunflower seeds {another portion of the video I had planned for using the grinder}. So will end up buying them raw in bulk from a local dutch shop.
If I were to do a video instead where we visit the Mormon cannery to buy their bulk wheat grain berries, would it be fitting since I would do a video on using the grinder and the health of the family benefiting from home ground wheat? I would again share the grinder when i discuss black oil sunflowers growing in the garden to use for making sunflower butter {a great alternative to peanut butter}.

Would this still in the most part be something satisfactory in your opinion since I am backed into a corner by the other company backing out like they did?
I feel awful and ashamed despite things not being in my control. i want to do the grinder sponsor right but not sure if the alternatives I listed above would meet expectations.
Help!
And Thank you ahead for helpful advice.

Thank you ladies. I have been debating the mormon cannery wheat for the last 2 months while still searching for a new source.I will def be going this route and will use some berries for planting to at least show some of the progress. That is if our rains will co operate
and not let them rot in the ground. lol.
I will need to write the company and without whining :) let them know what has happened and why I had to go this other route.
I'll be calling to set up my appt. with the cannery for July. The grinder company does have a source for organic wheat but for those who may have the LDS cannery somewhat local, they can benefit from the resource.
Have a wonderful weekend.

I think what Angie says is a great idea! You could even plant off-season if you needed to, so you could get some shots of the growing wheat. The viewers don't need to know that you didn't get the wheat from that harvest. When you meantion where to find wheat if you can't grow your own you could say something like "If you don't have room to grow wheat for yourself, or when weather causes you to loose some of your crop, you can find wholesome wheatberries at xyz place which you can then grind for yourself at home using a grinder like my abc grinder".

That is terribly disappointing that the supplier of the wheat didn't fulfill on their side. As far as the scythe part- maybe you could make a supplemenatry video next year if you run out of growing season this year. How to cut and shock your own wheat to prepare for grinding or something along those lines.

You could get some wheat from the cannery. Plant some of it to show the process. Use the rest to grind and demo the grinder.

It's around $12 for a 25# bag. That's more than enough wheat to plant and grind!

I would also suggest that you consider adding in a few sources for wheat as some folks don't have the space to grow it. That way you are covering a wide variety of people in your focus.

That's a bummer they backed out on your. So frustrating.

Do what you love, love what you do.
