Hello, ladies!

I have a large clump birch in my front yard and I am really tired of trying to mow under it, plus I'm working on getting rid of as much grass in my front yard as possible. I would like to put bark mulch underneath it -- not up against the trunk(s), because I know that invites bad things! I am wondering if anyone has ever done this by putting weed mat down first and then a thick layer of bark mulch? I don't want to dig all the sod/weeds up first -- I have lots of other places for that energy to go. And am afraid to put Roundup or anything like that down to kill the grass and weeds.

Any suggestions would be great!

Karin
