Instead of griping about the rain today as I usually do, I caught myself saying, "It's fine, my plants will love it!"

When did I become that person?

(The funny part is that my plants aren't even anything to write home about. I have about a 6' x 10' yard that is mostly shaded by large shrubs and trees, and all I've added are a hydrangea and a scattering of wildflower seeds. Guess I'm more protective of those little sprouts than I thought!)

Mary Beth - I'm in the city just north of the University District. I'd love to pick your brain about container gardening sometime. It's my goal to be able to grow some of my own veggies, but I still need to research what can do well in the shade.

Sherry - I visited the Redmond/Bend/Sisters area years ago and it was beautiful! If I ever head back down I'll be sure to let you know! :)

It's been a lot of fun to read about all your warm weather. It's nice to know the sunshine exists somewhere in the world. :) If I could send you all some rain I surely would! (Yep, it's raining again today...)

Wow Susan! That is TOOO hot! We are only in the 90s here but the wind is HORRIBLE!! Today is 25-30 mph sustained with gusts up to 60 mph!! We are also in the midst of a drought and wouldn't it be nice if we could get some of the extra rain from the east!

85 today in the interior of Alaska. Humidity about 20%, fires starting up everywhere, no rain in the forecast just more heat and dry weather. I have hesitated planting my flower seeds because you have to water practically all day to get them going. I am sad. But, I am "one of those people" too, Jamie. I am so blessed to live in the wilderness where I do, I went out today and planted my flower seeds in pots. I am going to have my flowers and the wilderness too.!!

I know exactly what you mean. I started saying the same thing sometime in the last couple of years. Too funny!

Paula, Yeah it started here Thursday afternoon too! We get it pretty bad here, we are kinda on a rise with some mountains just to the south. All of our trees list a bit to the east! LOL!! It will be howling wind here and then we go into Benson and it won't be nearly as bad! It gets so bad sometimes it will blow DH's all steel 4-horse trailer off the block and one time it was heading towards the road!! The wind makes me cranky!

candy,,i think it started today...darn it..my day off.i have so much to do..trying to harvest my herbs.. It was so nice yesterday, not to have a hurricane going on in back yard. It's pretty bad now.where I live is a little valley with mountains east and west..open at both ends.so when that wind starts it goes thought here pretty hard. Then the gusts on top of that.. I hate it...how bad you get it?

Hey Paula! You better hold onto your hat! The weather this morning (at least for down here) said it's going to be VERY windy on Sunday, probably the windiest day so far this year!

We too need rain! It has been too dry, the driest month of May in ages. I hardly have plants worth saving so I don't water the garden, just my plants in pots , I give them water every eve. They say we will get some rain later today, but still..it won't be enough.

Hugs from Marian/Dutchy, a farmgirl from the Netherlands :)

It's 95 degrees here in Florida where I live and no rain for a month. We need a little rain at least once a week. Everything is so dry. We water and water and the cost is so high. We do get a nice breeze though and I do thank God everyday we have had no other troubles. I pray for those who have had the severe weather problems so I don't really complain. We do have a small garden and things are growing thanks to my husbands great care.

That's who I have become and I love it! Funny thing is I even love the smell of skunk. That one makes the rest of the family truly think I have lost my mind. But, I truly do love it. Because it reminds me I am living exactly where I want, in the country. And I would rather smell skunk any day over the car fumes, and too many other stinky smells of the city. In my opinion skunk smells better then any city! lol haha And I truly mean it! Again family is ready to have me committed I think. lol haha if you see me in a white vest next time you see me, you will know why! lol

Yes, we could use some rain here right about now. I think there are storms a-brewin' though for tomorrow. I don't like the storms after all the tornadoes here a few weeks ago. Just some rain, Lord!
