Posted - Apr 26 2011 : 10:25:48 AM Since I'm on the topic of roses, when and how do I prune them?
I'm not sure if the variety but they flowers are white and yellow and have more of a daisy look than a traditional rose look.

Posted - Apr 27 2011 : 09:06:21 AM Thanks for the advice! I'll have to wait until next spring to prune but thankfully my dog is doing a great job keeping one under control. Every time he runs past it his hair catches a branch and breaks it off.
Kris- We've had some nasty thunderstorms lately! My friends who live about an hour NW of here have been having to rough tornadoes. I worry about them every night. Thanks for checking out my blog!

Posted - Apr 27 2011 : 08:31:51 AM I love your blog. Just went to check it out. I am also a bare foot gal. Hate shoes. But to the post, I don't like rose bushes either. I have some wild ones and they seem to reach out and grab me when I am near. I am then a bloody mess. Blackberries are the same way. hate them too. At a friend's house yesterday, she had a vase just full of the most beautuful roses I have ever seen. All different colors and sizes. I just stuck my nose right in. Oh my, they smelled like heaven. But that's the only way I like roses. In a vase. I Looks like Tina has some good advice for you. Just wear gloves!!
Did you have any severe weather today? We did here. Just checking. Hope all is well there. Y'all may see some more this afternoon.

Posted - Apr 26 2011 : 11:35:23 AM could be a wild rose, or some kind of prim rose, either way, you prune before they start coming out of winter sleep, which is probally around now for your neck of the woods. You can cut them back to just above the middle aged forks and remove any suckers, old wood that is crossing and touching other branches, all damaged and broken branches... |
