This year I want to have flowers blooming all around my house but also to have food plants interspersed with the flowers. So here is what I think I am going to do:

My house has a front porch on it that runs the length of my house. Most of my front lawn is shaded by two giant trees so I can't do too much enlarging of the garden beds, but I ma going to make them a few inches wider. Then I am going to plant my sugar snap peas all along the back of the flower beds so they can climb the railing like a trellis. Then I am going to lant some of those hanging baskets and try to do a topsy turvy tomato out the bottom. One of the gals mentioned this and I thought it was a brilliant idea! So I plan on having 4-5 of those hanging baskets on my porch. Then I am going to plant my flowers and such around the peas.

Then in the back yard I am going to enlarge the garden and plant it to the hilt! I want to try to get as much food out of that yard as I can! I am so ready to start...I hope I get a chance today!!

Every year my garden gets a little bit bigger--I love it! You can't go wrong with a little less lawn!! Hey, that's kind of catchy..!
My summer dreams(Garden Version!)...
I envision hollyhocks surrounding our detached garage
a walkway with hydrangeas (white) on either side
a pest free summer in my veggie garden
and
a cutting garden so I can have fresh bouquets in every room....

Alee~ You would be s urprised at what a fresh coat of paint can do. My bathroom was driving me crazy - it looked well, yuck. A fresh coat of paint and a new shower curtain and I feel like I'm in a completely different room!

Thanks Elaine! Maybe I should take some "before" and "after" pictures! :) I am very excited about this year. I think it is going to be a good year with lots of productivity. I want to smile when I see my house as I drive up after a long day at work. Right now I kindof hate it. The carpets need a professional cleaning and the walls need re-painted. It looks like I have my landlord convinced to buy the painting supplies so I can work on getting the house nice looking. I am also thinking of buying or makng new drapes for my living room and hanging new curtain rods.

Alee~ That sounds so lovely. When it is in full bloom I would love to see a picture! I'm enlarging my garden tis year too. I thought I would get a chance to get outside and work on it today but I have to wait for the wind and the rain to let up. Aaagh! I am so ready for some sunny weather (a little warmth wouldn't hurt either).
