I just had to jump in to share this story:
http://www.pubpat.org/osgatavmonsantofiled.htm
I'm still reading it but here's a snip of it:

NEW YORK – March 29, 2011 – On behalf of 60 family farmers, seed businesses and organic agricultural organizations, the Public Patent Foundation (PUBPAT) filed suit today against Monsanto Company to challenge the chemical giant's patents on genetically modified seed. The organic plaintiffs were forced to sue preemptively to protect themselves from being accused of patent infringement should they ever become contaminated by Monsanto's genetically modified seed, something Monsanto has done to others in the past.

Thank you for sharing this. I find it frustrating that trade laws do not apply to companies like Monsanto, even though they are running everyone else out of business. It's really good to hear some good news on this front.

I was so excited when I came across the article but I was at work and couldn't really post a lot. But this is the best news I've heard in a long time. I read a book by Jane Goodall and she said in her book a friend of hers was being sued by Montsanto because her friend's organic farm tested positive for GE and he could not sell his ORGANIC produce because of the cross contamination but to make it even worse Monsanto sued Ms. Goodall's friend for patent infringment! At the time of publishing her friend was still fighting them..and the thing that really peeves me is the farmer has been ruined but he can't sue Montsanto for the cross contamination. This is a huge problem for every small and big farmer who want the right to grow organic food and it's huge for the consumer that we want to know what my food is and where it came from. If Montsanto keeps going no one will be able to grow their own food and gosh forbid we try to sell it on a roadside stand.

My questions is how could any court allow them to sue anyone for the pollination and cross contamination that happens. The courts should have said they could sue the real thieves.. the bees!!

Happy to be a "Raggedy Ann" in a Barbie World!

I get up every morning determined to both change the world and have one hell of a good time. Sometimes this makes planning my day difficult.
