I thought this was the funniest thing today:

A couple days ago I hung an plastic tube birdfeeder that I had lying in the barn in a new spot in front of my house, near a window where I could watch the birds. It was not the best quality feeder, in fact the previous owners of my place left a pile of them behind when they moved out so I have just been using them here & there around the yard.

Well I noticed yesterday a squirrel had knocked it off & it was laying on my front walkway, since it was pouring rain I did not go pick it up at that time. Today I was looking out the window & noticed the tube was gone . I went outside to look & laying where it had been was the top lid, and all 6 of the little inserts with the perches. Odd, no tube in sight. On further inspection I found the tube at the base of my tallest maple tree, a good 50 yards away, broken in half.

I have no idea how the squirrel got all the inserts out of it or what went on there. But I giggled to myself imagining a fat squirrel with it's front end stuck in the feeder running across the yard & up a tree. Wish I had seen it. Or was he just very creative & intentionally took it up to a high branch & dropped it to get all the seeds to come out? Needless to say there was not a seed in sight.

Too cute. LOL

The tears I shed then, watered the flowers I harvest now.

Yes, that's a funny story. It made me think of Winnie the Pooh the way you described imagining the squirrel being stuck in the front of the feeder.

they can be very clever.
